What's the proper laptop battery care?tips?

I have a hp pavilion dv6000.It has a 6-cell lithium laptop battery.My laptop has this hp battery check software that is used to check how well my laptop battery is functioning.This morning,I checked my battery using the said software and it said that my laptop battery is WEAK and I Toshiba Satellite A60-662 Battery already have to buy a replacement battery.I was somehow shocked because I just bought my laptop last may and that means to say that the battery only lasted for 11 months.Well I can still use the battery but it only lasts for less than an hour.Maybe I was not observing proper laptop battery care that is why my battery got weak in such a short period of time.



My laptop battery practices are the following:



1.I often use my laptop with the adapter plugged in for long periods of time thinking it could save battery power.



2.I only did battery calibration once



3.I seldom fully discharge my laptop battery



4.I often charge my laptop battery while using it



Is hp battery check reliable?
